
Biography
Born and raised in South Central LA, David has cultivated a lifelong commitment to uplifting the priorities of underserved communities through his values, education, and practice. Prior to his time at Brown, David worked at racial justice policy centers such as Center for Policing Equity, as well as Community Coalition, where he helped to shape their philanthropy and funding agenda as well as coordinate high-impact special projects with City government partners serving predominantly Black and Latinx communities in LA County. He also directs The Building Hope Project, an organization that partners with students in Uganda through school sponsorships and leadership development programming. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Sociology at Brown University where his current research interests deal with mobility, stratification, and racial and identity formation as it concerns interactions between Black Americans and Africans on the Continent."
