Hosting Summer Internship Opportunities
The Swearer Center invites you to submit internship positions for the Summer 2025 cycle of the SPRINT-iProv Summer Fellowship. The fellowship will place up to 24 undergraduate students in internships with Rhode Island-based organizations in the nonprofit or social sector.
Key Program Information
All internships should start on or after June 2, 2025, and finish no later than August 8, 2025. These internships are expected to be students’ primary summer engagement, therefore roles should be at least 20 hours per week. Work will primarily be conducted in person. If your organization prefers a hybrid arrangement, this can be accommodated.
All internships must involve direct service, organizational capacity-building and/or research and assessment. Each community partner/agency may submit up to two distinct job descriptions that involve project-based and mission-aligned work within the organization. Please see here for job descriptions from previous cycles.
This iProv fellow must be supervised by an employee of the organization or a board member. The supervisor cannot be another student. Supervision offers a valuable opportunity for mentorship, providing interns with guidance, support, and professional growth. Here are mentoring resources that may be helpful as you plan.
Students will receive a stipend for their participation in the SPRINT-iProv Summer Fellowship. Brown University will pay the entire stipend to selected students through the SPRINT Award Program. Students also participate in mandatory co-curricular workshops facilitated by Swearer Center staff over the length of the fellowship. The dates for these sessions are being determined but will take place after 5 p.mm and include reflections, discussions and presentations.
How Do Organizations Apply?
Please submit your position description via this Google form no later than Friday, December 6, 2024, by 11:45 PM.
Student Selection
In February you will receive information and application materials from students that have expressed interest in your opportunity. You will have 4 weeks to vet applicants as you wish (interview them or review their materials). You must let the SPRINT-iProv team know by March 7th the names of the students you wish to hire. Please see the full timeline below.
*Please note that students will likely be applying to multiple positions. Students will have until March 14, 2025, to confirm their final placement. If you have multiple applicants for a single position we will ask you to rank your preferred student placement so that we can still attempt to match you if one of your applicants opts to pursue a different opportunity.
