Civic Engagement Series
The Swearer Center's Civic Engagement Series brings together students, faculty, staff and the community to learn, reflect and take action. Each semester, through a series of workshops, presentations and convenings, participants engage with the multiple strategies communities are using to effect social change around an issue impacting Providence and Rhode Island.
The Civic Engagement Series in Spring 2025 focuses on Education Justice.

| Education Justice: Policy, Community Engagement and Organizing Education policy shapes the opportunities and outcomes of students, but it is often influenced by those in power rather than the communities most affected. This workshop will explore what education policy is, who shapes it and how power dynamics impact decision-making. By understanding the relationship between education policy and social justice, participants will gain the tools to challenge systemic barriers and push for meaningful change. | April 18, 2025 4-5:30 p.m. |
