Swearer Center for Public Service

Mary Jo serves as the Vice President for Community Engagement and Stark Family Executive Director of the Swearer Center for Public Service. In this dual role, she leads efforts to integrate fair and sustainable community-engaged teaching, research, learning, and practice in order to advance community thriving. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, Mary Jo provides strategic leadership to grow positive place-based engagement across Providence and Rhode Island by developing and coordinating programs, partnerships, investments and related activities. Central to all of her work is pursuing consultation and collaboration with community leaders and stakeholders, as well as with faculty, staff and students across campus. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Education at Brown University.
